Science for the Week of November 30- December 4

 

* Students will review land and water unit test.

*  Students will begin exploring energy.

* Students will begin making plans for designing a car.

* Students will discuss different types of forces.

Science Words

 

  1. force: a push or pull exerted by one object on another, causing change in motion
  2. inertia: the tendency of a moving object to keep moving in a straight line or of any object to resist a change in motion
  3. friction: a force that opposes the motion of one object moving past another
  4. speed: how fast an object’s position changes with time at any given moment
  5. velocity: the speed and direction of a moving object
  6. acceleration: change in velocity with respect to time
  7. decomposer: any of the fungi or bacteria that break down dead plants and animals into useful things like minerals and rich soil
  8. delta: fan-shaped region formed by deposits of sediments found at the mouth of a river
  9. mutualism: a relationship between two kinds of organisms that benefits both
  10. commensalism: a relationship between two kinds of organisms that benefits one without harming the other
